Can't Factory Reset After Installing ROM

Hello everyone,

I am new to this kind of thing. I had my friend root my phone, which was successful, but we were unable to work wifi tethering. At this point we decided to install a custom ROM.

I downloaded the ROM on my SD card, pressed vol down and power, wiped to factory reset and wiped the cache, then flashed the file from my SD. It installed successfully and I went to reboot the phone when the HBoot screen let me know the voltage was low.

This is probably where I went wrong... I removed the battery, charged it, and turned it on. The ROM began to open so I thought everything was fine. At this point it began to boot loop. I was unable to do anything on the phone. (Once I was able to add an email account before it restarted)

Then I turned it off, pressed vol down and power again. It presented me with the option to install update. I said yes. It rebooted and continued to boot loop. I did it again, denied the update, and it rebooted and continued to boot loop. I cannot bypass the installation of the update. It is the only option available to choose in the HBoot menu.

When it turns on it takes a few moments for the phone to recognize I have a SIM card, but it usually does. I can sometimes unlock the screen, but very frequently not.

Please help! I regret this immensely and I'm quite upset...

Sounds like you didn't install the leak RUU or the old firmware patch. Go back to your ROM install, I think you missed a step. Please keep in mind that a factory reset simply wipes your data and cache. It doesn't remove the ROM and restore the factory ROM. If I'm right in my assumption you have four paths.

1) Reinstall the ROM and make sure you hit the old firmware patch

2) Relock, run the ICS leak RUU, then reinstall your ROM **This will wipe your internal SD**

3) Relock, run the current official RUU to get your back to GB **This will wipe your internal SD**

4) Install a GB ROM or early ICS leak ROM thus negating 1 & 2
