Can't factory reset, can't download from the market

Basically the title says it all.

Whenever I try to get a new app from the market, I hit install, then it says your item will download, and then 2 seconds later it just stops.

Insanely annoying.

So then I tried to data factory reset to hopefully resolve the problem... This just makes the thing hang, and then I get a prompt asking to force kill it, or to just wait, and I've waited and just nothing happens.

Kind of at my wits end here, any help would be VERY appreciated.

Try going to settings, applications, market. Clear the cache and app data.

Good idea, I will remember that next time.

I just figured out how to get into the bootloader and really do a factory reset.

With the flyer off, hold down the power down button, then press power button, and you'll get into the bootloader... (or whatever it is)

I'm having the exact same problem. I tried what you said above, but I can't get in the bootloader. Any help?

How to reset HTC Flyer by setting:

1. From the Home screen, press menu, and then tap Settings. 2. Tap Storage > Factory data reset. 3. Tap Reset tablet, and then tap Erase everything.

How to reset HTC Flyer by buttons:

1. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. 2. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button. 3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

If you can not turn on your HTC Flyer tablet, you can perform a hard reset by buttons. When you finish resetting your tablet, power off your device and power it on, all settings will be reset to original settings. You can transfer all useful data to your tablet now.

Thanks for the info S Prime. Your reset steps using buttons didn't work for me, however. So I checked youtube and saw how someone reset the Evo. I held down the volume down button, and then the power button together (took at least 10 seconds!) then released both when I saw the hboot screen come on. I was able to hard reset it from the menu there. Again, thanks so much for the input. Hope it helps anyone else having problems.

S Prime's steps using the buttons work if you first turn off Fast Boot in your settings menu; that's one thing that I forgot to mention in the other thread, as well. Apparently having Fast Boot on somehow messes with the hboot sequence. I guess your method (holding both buttons down until hboot pops up) works with Fast Boot enabled, although when I tried it that way it simply didn't work at all.

EDIT: I take it back, delthor's method worked for me with Fast Boot on. I counted the seconds and it took me like 15 seconds to get there, so I guess it just requires a little more patience than I had the first time.

I guess I should have included that the button method was the method suggested when you could not access your Flyer therefore my thinking is that Fast Boot would not be accessible. Knowing the variations will be options if we need factory reset our Flyers.
