Hey all, every pedometer app I try counts steps only until the phone screen turns off... Phone goes to sleep and stops counting. I've tried "walkdroid" and "fitbit"...please help

Try the Fitbit app. The M8 can be set up as the device, rather than using a Fitbit tracker. It's a work in progress, but it's getting better with each update.

Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.

I've used this one and it works with the screen off.

The downside is it's not a true pedometer. It's a GPS based tracker, then calculates steps based on what you tell it as your measured normal stride. Plus it wouldn't work inside where GPS is blocked, if that's a place you wanted to use it.

On the flip side, it has a "driving" exercise mode in case you wanted to know how many calories you burn driving your car. Lol

didn't yours come with fitbit? i used it for a while and it works ok, has issues but has had regular updates to improve. you set your m8 as the tracker device since it has some low power sensors built in. I just bought a fitbit and it is more accurate but the fitbit ap was most accurate i found when just using phone.

I have downloaded the fitbit app but it won't track with the screen off

Huh? It tracks just fine with the screen off. My FitBit battery was dead one day when I got to work and it was a day I planned on walking miles, so i turned off the tracker and used the phone to track. It kept track of my steps all day long no problems. The next day, I just went back to my tracker in the app. The FitBit app is the perfect tracker. Not sure why you'd have problems with it.

Have you installed any so-called "battery saver" apps?
