Can't find my location

I got my evo yesterday and I have two problems with it thus far. I've searched the forums for answers but could not find any. It's not the easiest of things to do.

One, on my home screen, it keeps saying I live in Murray. I have the clock widget with the weather on it, it keeps saying I live in Murray and not my hometown. Sometimes it will reset to my home town for a bit but then goes back to Murray, wherever that is!

Secondly, the time and date are correct on my evo, however, all texts I send and receive are dated 5 hours ahead, I send texts at 3:35 but the timestamp in handcent shows 5:35.

1. Check home>menu>settings>location and try different settings, GPS or network (NB: Leaving the GPS on all the time will drain your battery faster.)

2. home>menu>setting>Date and time. See if it's not automatic or if so I thinks your in thewrong time zone.

The time zone and everything is set appropriately. I can't understand why it'd be doing this because the time on the device is right, it only shows up wrong in native text and with handcent.

Have you tried running the system updates? It sounds like a network issue more than a hardware or software issue. If all else fails i would take it to a sprint service center. Make sure to back up everything you can can first though, they might just end up resetting it.... :/

Also, do you have an Airave? If so, it can be interfering with the locale settings.

I figured out the location issue. I live in a small town and do not have a tower in town or anywhere near for that matter, and I had it set to use the mobile network to find my location, thus why it was popping up another town.

As for the time on the Handcent SMS, still cannot find the solution to this!
