This might be a multiple part question:

1) I recently took a video with my Fascinate. It is promptly displayed in my Gallery and I can play it until I am blue in the face but when I look for details of it's file format, I find that it's a .mp4

2) I can't seem to play this file on any DLNA compliant server or display (Windows7 PC or SONY BD570 Player) for more than one reason but one primary reason is that I can't find the file.

3) Using the integrated My File app I have looked in every folder of my phone (and this app seems to only allow access to the /sdcard or higher directory).

I can't seem to find where this file is actually stored using the phone. Secondly, I can't find (I have owned this phone since release) where one sets the preferences to store pictures and videos in a specific directory.

I don't know, maybe I am just going nuts.

Well... Just answered one of my own questions.

The DCIM folder is the media storage for the phone and under that, is a subfolder Camera where anything from the camera (still or video) might be stored. Now to move all these to the corresponding Pictures or Video folders on the /sdcard ... But the question still looms, How does one set the preferences to store videos in the /sdcard/Video directory and photos in the /sdcard/Pictures directory?

I don't think there is any option using the stock Camera/Video application to store anywhere but the DCIM folder.

Edit: I did find one application that integrates into your Gallery to organize your media into sub directories and more. Search "Media Organizer"

Thanks Paul. Hate spending money on apps where the base function should be in the OS. No reason that the SHARE function can't have an SDCARD option. Seems silly to burn RAM for media storage.

Welcome to android, you're going to see alot of that here. It's a garbage os that feels like a homebrew pos that some kid threw together in his grandmother's basement. The benefit is you get to pick and choose from a larger list of devs to do more than you can with an ios. That and access to better hardware.
