Cant get Android auto to connect

[AC Question]

I just had a pioneer AVIC-8200NEX installed and I have a Note 4. When I plug the USB to the phone I get the AA button on the unit then I get the "apply parking brake" message on my phone. I have been reading the forums but have not found a solution. I have done the "forget all Cars" on the phone. I have also tried to turn on Mirrorlink on my phone when I check the box it stays checked and within seconds unchecks it self I have looked all through the setup on the head unit and the phone I believe that the settings are correct. All apps are updated, I read one post that said to uncheck only connect to know cars. I cant find that prompt in my AA app. any help would be greatly appreciated

Make sure in settings that under developer options you have it set to MTP then turn developer options off. That was the fix for my setup. Nexus 6p, pioneer Aviv 8200nex,
