Can't get the battery cover back on!

I found this thread hilarious. Holy Cow!!! I had the same freaking problem this morning. I thought it was only me. LOL

I take my cover off about once or twice a day to swap batteries. Never have any trouble getting the cover off or putting it on. I just start from the bottom and run my thumbs up both sides to the top and done. Really couldn't be easier IMO.

Yeah I had the same problem for about an hour. I realized I had bent the two bottom hooks of the battery cover that didnt allow the cover to sit flush. I carefully bent them back and it finally latched on perfect. Now I always put on the cover starting with the bottom two in and snapping the rest in. You are not alone friend.

Consider this back cover of GN as a type of zipper. Just align the very bottom, then continue squeezing both side from the bottom to the top. It is extremely important you start from the very bottom to the top all the time. Once you get used to it, it just take 2 sec to remove, 5 sec to put it on.

Don't forget! From the very bottom to the top!

Same problem with mine. Fixed it by pulling it out slowly and now I put it on making sure the bottom is in first.

Yup. Bottom to top. Make sure the hooks are in first. I use this method and the stock battery door fits over the extended battery just fine. :)

Pretty much this.

Tried it, didn't fit correctly for me.

OK, let me be more accurate.

#1 Put the bottom hooks in first ... There are three of them. Looking at the part of the cover with the VZW logo, there is one on the bottom left, one on the bottom right, and a middle one that is offset to the right ... Make sure they are ALL in.. The bottom of the door should be flush to the body of the phone ..

#2 Now, lock the tabs which are inline on either side of the SAMSUNG logo.

#3 Now lock the tabs on either side of the VZW logo.

#4 Next, lock the tabs on either side of the camera.

#5 Finally, lock the two tabs on the top edge on either side of the top of the camera. The cover should be all latched now. If anything popped open anywhere while doing this, just apply firm pressure to that area and it will lock in place ...

The final fit is not 100% perfect. Its probably closer to 95%.. If I look closely at my phone I will see the door is slightly raised from the body in the vicinity of the volume rocker. Also, on the bottom edge, the door is raised slightly left side between the speaker and the left corner ... Remember that offset tab to the right of the speaker? Well, not having one to the left is causing this ...

My apologizes for making it sound like its absolutely perfect. It isn't .. But it's damned near close and it is perfect in my opinion for case purposes.

I should've been more clear. The regular battery cover does not have a nice fit over the extended battery for me. I'd rather use the extended battery cover as I like the way it fits. I haven't had any problems getting the cover on.

What I wrote there is for the extended battery with regular cover .... :p

seriously this thread is a life saver.. i've been driving myself nuts over the last 45 minutes trying to figure out why the cover won't close at the bottom.. the hooks got bent down and i had to bend them back up. this phone's amazing but this is the worst battery cover i've ever seen.

and if they're going to make the "extended" battery practically the same size as the standard, they need to mark the case differently or something on the inside. when i take them off and lose track of them, i have no idea which is which.

You probably got a good answer by now but just going to throw mine in there.

The bottom must be set inside so that it is completely flush. Then you push one side down and then the other and then just thumb it all the way around the top.

I think you have to be careful not to push it down until its flush.

Check to see you didn't bend anything before.
The backs are really cheap if its messed up.

Once you get used to it, it really is super easy.

Edit: If its flush push the left in and then the right in and then work your way around. I find it to be important to get that bottom flush and then one click each side and then around the device after.

This is a known defect with the battery cover for the Galaxy Nexus. I have confirmed with Samsung and Google. Just take your phone to Verizon, and they will give you a replacement cover for free.

I just got 2 new covers from Verizon, since both of my Nexus have this problem. Note: You don't need to purchase your phone from Verizon to get a replacement cover.

Anybody remember the OG Droid, the back cover would just fall off unless you took a small screwdriver and bent the little metal clip at the top up. I was one of many that got a free replacement from Moto after calling and complaining about it.
