can't get the update

My phone just keeps checking for an hour and it does not find it.

This has worked on my phone and 2 of my friends EVOs.

Pull your battery...wait 30 seconds(important!). Put the battery back in and turn on your phone. After it finishes starting up look for update again!

I've tried 3G/4G/wifi, let the "Checking..." circle spin for an hour, restarted, pulled the battery, and un-checked the "Scheduled Check" option--all things I've seen suggested. Nothing works; still no update.

Are there coverage areas (small ones, because I know people in the general metro area have gotten the update) where it's just not available yet?

My friend sitting next to me got the update. my phone is still checking. I guess I'll try the battery pull now.

mine pulled the update straight away, no battery pull and half charged....opps where is the charging cable!

I simply had to restart my Evo for it to find the update.

Update, my wife just got home and was excited to see if hers would find the update because mine just checks for hours, unfortunately her evo says that it is up to date.... hmmm, 2.2 is not gingerbread.... now im really confused.... location is Grand Rapids MI....

mine is not working either, just sits at the "checking" for update screen. not sure if they had an area by are roll out or what.

Just a heads up to all with the endless checking for update.. after a lot of failed reboots and battery pulls I finally called sprint. They had me do a hard reset and that has solved my issues... I am now on 2.3.3.....finally. fyi I have never been rooted.

I just did a hard reset and now I'm downloading update. This method needs to be posted on GB update thread.

tried the battery pull, hard reset, etc. Finally, just tried one more time... and it is now working. Maybe it's just a matter of the number of phones requesting the update.
