Hi all - I've been a HTC One user for almost 2 months now, and I absolutely love it.

But at some point (not sure when), this icon appeared in my status bar, and I can't for the life of me identify it:

It appears on the right-hand side of my status bar, which leads me to believe it's something more core to the phone, rather than an app that I installed.

For a while I thought it might be my SwiftKey keyboard trial, but I just uninstalled that and the icon remains. Anyone know what it is??

Hi Nadia, that is going to be the icon for the NFC, which allows data to pass when you touch phones with other devices.

Settings> More> NFC [i have it unchecked.]

Awesome! And thanks so much for letting me know how to turn it off. It was really beginning to irritate me with the screen real estate it was hogging up there... problem resolved.

Get rid of it. I just removed it from my telephone . I had the Sprint customer care specialist look into it. It allows two like devices when placed next to each other to transfer data from one cell to the other. I didn't like that idea. Go to settings. Then More. Make sure the NFC is unchecked. Good luck!

Just fyi, YOU have control over what gets transferred and when... You get a notification of what to do, it's not just a free-for-all of files flying into other phones.

That doesn't happen on HTC One M7's. You are probably better off posting that question in a more heavily read sub forum or one for your particular device. This particular sub forum is in decline.
