Can't install APK files

I was trying to install an APK file and all i keep getting is it can't be installed any idea?

Where are you trying to download the apk from? To download apks outside the Play Store you need to enable "unknown sources" in your security settings.

sorry should have said i have allowed the install from unkown sources

Thanks guys problem resolved it was just those apps that i uploaded from pc to phone via GMail.
