Can't install Google Music Player

When I attempt to install the google music player from google play, it goes through the installation process, but then always says "Install" afterwards. It is never actually installed. I tried cycling power to my 7" Nook, but that did not help. I also checked for any hung process using the Elixer sysinfo tool, which did not help either.

Any ideas why the google music player won't install?

Yes, it's a bug that they still haven't fixed despite months of complaints. However if you read through a support thread people have found some workarounds until the problem gets fixed:
