Every time I get a new device I always seem to want to go back to the M8. Now it's well over 2 years old, in worrying if I get one, will it get me over to 2017?

I know about the camera and don't care about this.

It's not going to get Nougat (officially). I think the true question is, how is your battery?

Yeah, I've replaced the battery and it will surely last me another year. Best smartphone I ever had :)

What's the speed like though In terms of opening apps and browsing?
Pretty fast, specially after a factory reset. I bet the HTC 10 and the Google Pixel are faster and smoother but it seems pretty good for a 2,5 year smartphone.

I still own an M8 which I sporadically power on, it's still a very useable phone, still smooth and fast. If you're not concerned about system updates I can't see why it wouldn't last you a couple of years. It's still a great phone.

I agree with ya about the M8! It is my favorite smartphone I have ever owned.. My M8 is over 2 years old and it's just WORKING! Now granted, I take very good care of it...
I will use my M8 until the day it completely craps out on me, which will be a very sad day!

Hi, considering buying a second hand m8, to get me through to my upgrade, slightly concErnest, will it keep getting security updates? Or how can I find out? Advice greatly appreciated

It won't. The last security patch I have is from 12-2015. This is, along with the reset/backup process, where Google is much worse than Apple.

Ah that sucks, would you still recommend getting one? Good phone to use?
Very good. First Android phone I had that's still great after 2 and a half years of heavy use. Replaced the battery since I'm a heavy user. But it's smooth, fast, pretty and has great sound quality (speakers and headphones). How much will it cost you?

Cheers

Well I'm the the UK, but seen a few for £60-100($75-110) seem a fair price? I currently have an iphonen6+(controversial lol)

I get bored half way through my contract and want a change, so this way I would have the choice of android and IOS! I can't seem to fully committed to either lol, and also I upgrade September 2017
