Can't power off or restart, locked up

I'm new to Android coming from the Pre Plus and I've locked up my Rezound for the first time while in email. I long pressed the power button but poking Restart or Power off does nothing. I'm still getting notifications in but can't do anything.

Do I just pull the battery or is that bad?

Pulling the battery will not do any harm. Were you using the stock email that come with the Rezound?

You can usually do a battery pull without too much fear. Just keep it in the back of your mind that you can fry your SD pulling the battery in ANY phone. So just in case it ever happens you were warned. O

I was in the HTC mail app, in fact. Right as I was peeling off the silicone back cover to pop the hard case cover and take the battery out, it came back to life, so I didn't pull the battery after all. Is the HTC mail app glitchy like that?

I have had to do a number of battery pulls in my old DX. It did not harm anything but of course it could but I would rather get a new SD card then stuck with a phone that is not working!
