Can't receive seemingly random SMS PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a T-Mobile galaxy S3 and I am not receiving what seems to be random messages even when I have full bars. I have been testing it to see when it would receive messages and i noticed that when i turn it on it can reliably receive messages for about 5 minutes. Please help!

I don't know of a fix besides maybe calling T-Mobile to see if there are any service issues?
