Can't remove voicemail Icon - Verizon

For some unknown reason, I have a voicemail icon in the notification tray that will not go away. When I click on the icon, it takes me to my voicemail but I do not have any messages. I also checked my Google voice voicemail and it is also empty. I tried uninstalling Google voice and then tried to remove the icon but that didn't work. I also uninstalled Hangouts and Google voice, that didn't work either.

I do not want to reset my phone as this is the worse time consuming thing to do.

Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated.

I found out how to remove the voicemail icon. You have to hold down the notification (long press) until yo see the app info icon. Select the app info icon and force stop the phone services. BAM! Icon is gone....
