I just received a replacement DINC and I have been trying to root it for a couple of days running unrevoked3. First I tried it on a mac running snow leopard. I tried over 20 times and still no root. It would start out fine and reboot but then fail. Unrevoked will either say there was a communication issue, which was due to not setting the DINC to "Charge Only" After that, i kept on getting the error that "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?" On the DINC the unrevoked process that was running failed. I have tried all this on a WinXP laptop with all the correct drivers and no htc sync and got the same error....

How can I tell if I do have new firmware that unrevoked does not support or know about???

PLEASE HELP!!! I NEED ROOT!!!!

Hmmm. I saw a similar problem when I received my replacement DInc from Assurian. Initially I had thought the problem was because the new phone was an SLCD screen. That didnt' seem to be the case. I re-downloaded Unrevoked and voila! Everything worked fine. I was guessing my download was bad. As you've tried to different machines, it doesn't seem like that is your problem.

Although the guys here are knowledgeable and very helpful, you might want to take a look at the XDA Developer's DInc forums too.

I am rooted!!!

Upstreammiami - thanks for the offer to help out but I got it done on my own.

Problem: zysploi app/service failed to restart during root process.
Solution: uninstall zysploi, reboot and try again.

I AM ROOTED!!!
