Can't Root

I'm trying to root my EVO just to see what is possible and so i installed unrevoked and it doesn't root it and says something about that it "couldn't create the godmaker"

So i want to know how to fix this so that i can root my EVO and then if i don't like it, it can simply unroot with a restart

What version of Android are you running? V2.2 (Froyo) can't be rooted yet.

There IS a method to downgrade to 2.1, which can be rooted. Check the ROMs and hacks section of this forum.

I'm running Android 2.2 it came with the phone already when i got it

A of right now there is no "one click" root solution for 2.2 on the EVO. Basically you have to down grade your OS to version 2.1, then you can root your EVO. Then you can flash any rom you want.

I haven't tried this method yet. Still to new to Android OS and just haven't had the time to really sit down and read and understand it just yet.
