can't see the screen when outdoors(cloudy weather), even with brightness at maximum?

I've had the G4 for a couple of months now. Today was the first time I used it outdoors.
The weather was completely cloudy with some fog.

When I was taking pictures of my car, I could't really see anything. I unchecked auto
and turned brightness to maximum. It was slightly better, but still not good. All I could
see was the outline of the car.

I then pulled out my Samsung Note 5 and it had no problems showing me a bright
image of my car while taking pictures.

Is there some way to increase the brightness on the G4 beyond the maximum?

Two questions for you. Were you holding the phone horizontally? Were you wearing polarized sunglasses?

For whatever reason this combination of factors causes the screen to be unviewable outdoors. It's strange, but a known issue (and one I've experienced personally).

no.. it was cloudy and i wasn't wearing sunglasses....

You might try using Auto with screen brightness at max. This is what I do & as long as sun is not shining directly on screen can see screen reasonably well.

The reason is very straight forward.
The Screen on the LG G4 is just not bright enough. LG focused on delivering better colors and a more accurate display overall, than what was on the G3. Well, what LG didn't focus on was brightness.

So, the G4 is too dim to be used outdoors. Samsung focused on display brightness since the excellent Galaxy S5 display. It has been improving ever since. So, it is natural and completely normal that the Note 5 is so so much brighter than the G4. Shame on LG, however.

I read a thread somewhere about people complaining about poor visibility in bright environments, even a cloudy day. It turns out that the G4 has some sort of high contrast function that is supposed to make it more easily viewed outdoors, but many people found it made the screen harder to read. I haven't personally seen this happen on mine, but wondering if that's what was happening to the OP.

The light from phone LCD screens is polarized. Some polarize it vertical, and others horizontal; which varies between phone models. Why this is, I don't know, but it is what it is. So when you wear polarized glasses and rotate the screen so it's polarized both horizontal and vertically, then yes you will block out most all of the light from the phone. The same happens when you take two polarized sunglasses and hold one rotated in front of the other. You'll get almost no light through both lenses.

I've actually taken to wearing non-polarized glasses for this reason. I don't see any real benefit from using them.

Just download lux brightness from the play store and your problem is solved. Very easy to use and it does the job really well. Give it a try
