Hi guys quick question,

I took a picture while hanging out with my friends this past weekend and tried to send it to my friend who has an iphone. For whatever reason he never received it, and the same thing happened to another friend with the same phone.

Can I not send pix to iphones? I received pictures from them, so I don't know if it is something that I am doing wrong.

Thanks.

AFAIK this is not just iPhones.

People may not be getting your MMS txts ...and you don't even know it!!

So after a few weeks of sending people random picture txts and just thinking that they just weren't responding, I finally figured out that they weren't getting my txts. I would take a pic with my phone, send it, not get any failure notices, but the other person wasn't getting the txt. Not even just a blank txt with no picture, just nothing at all.

So after being on tech support for a little while (VZ tech was very helpful and knowledgeable) I figured out that by changing the Picture Quality from Normal to High it was causing the issue. When the DInc. resizes the picture for a MMS txt (on the 8mp setting), it can't make the file small enough for other phones to receive if it's on the High setting.*

This is only true for other phones that don't have a camera as large as the DInc. ...which is no one, haha!! = ) So if you're sending the MMS txt to a fellow DInc. user you're fine, but if it's anyone else they aren't getting the txt and you're not getting a failure notice.

Not sure if anyone cares, but I didn't even realize I was having a problem because some of my friends were getting the pics and responding and other weren't. I changed the camera settings on a trip because I wanted the higher quality pics and didn't even know it was affecting my pic txts.

Hope this helps anyone.

ok interesting..

I already set my images to a smaller quality b/c the files were huge and I had to go resize them every time.

Just sent a message with a picture. see if it works.

adding the text didn't work, and I reduced the image to normal before taking a picture and testing it.

Bleh. This is frustrating.

quick update- my friend has an evo and is able to send pictures that he takes to people with iphones. I'm thinking now that it is something to do with Verizon.

Just my two cents. I ended up sending my MMS messages by way of: <10-digit phone number>@mms.att.net to my gf who has an iPhone. Just start off like you are sending an MMS so that the DInc resizes the photo, then type (or choose) <10-digit phone number>@mms.att.net . Has worked for me everytime, no text or quality lowering needed...

att limits incoming msg size if its not sent from their network, try to get your pics below 500kb then send them and should have no problems, took couple pics with mine and they were 2-3 megabytes, wtf

( sprint and tmobile and most others limit around 1.1 mb normally, att jumps alot depending on the day of the week and how much usage is on their network but 500kb is pretty safe, i believe verizon in limits around 1.2mb )

i still have my 10x optical zoom camera that is 1.3mp and i use it on its lowest setting and still am able to blow images up afterwards, after 400% increase i can notice the loss of quality from higher settigns, but for normal viewing it so unnecessary, i look at the pics my incredible takes and both on normal and high i can see degradation of the pic, its good in perfect light but the 8mp is so unnecessary considering the true quality of most cell phone camers, hard to focus anything with that little space, kinda wish they had pop out lens, lol

The picture I'm trying to send is 93,361 bytes. I have it set on normal and 640 x 480 resolution.

iPhone and you're having issues, and this surprises anyone? Just email it to them and don't worry about it. With a mix of issues of MMS and iPhones and AT&T restrictions it just makes it a headache for no reason.
