Hope someone can help:
I set up my POP3 account and everything is fine over my home wifi connection. But when I try to send an email over data (3g) it won't send. I can receive fine, but can't send mail unless I connect to my home network.
I have tried changing ports to no avail.
I am on optonline, if that matters. POP and SMTP are both the same, mail.optonline.net

Some smtp servers require a different log in and password (mine does). Check to confirm. HTH.

Thanks, but mine requires no password. Only POP server does. Guess I'll have to put a call into their tech support.

OK Got it. For those on optonline, set your smtp to port 587. That will do it.
