cant set default home screen

Sorry if this has been asked befor but I just got the drone x and I have downloaded launcher pro and im never asked to set it as my home default screen. When im in the stock home screen and I hit my home button it changes to launcher pro. So if I wanted to just use the stock home I can't even by going into stettings and going to manage apps the option to clear default in not highlighted. In my outher phones when I hit the home button it asked me witch one to set as my defoult home and on this phone its not asking me it just switches to launcher pro. I've also using home switched to change but still don't have the option. Please help me

First of all, I'm pretty sure you own a DROID X. You can set the home screen by pressing menu (farthest leftt hard button) > then press preferences (not settings - that's for your Droid itself) > then Homescreen settings. Choose your number of home screens and then make the default screen whichever one you want to appear when you hit the home button.

You will also want to go to Behavior Settings (on the main preference screen) and then Home Key action. This will allow you to choose what happens when you touch the home screen button.

You need to download free app Home Switcher from the Market. It will allow you to change from Launcher Pro to stock and you will be able to make one or the other the default.

PS - If you use Launcher Pro, it's a good idea to clean off the stock home screens of any widgets, etc. If you don't, they will be running in the background along with Launcher Pro. Can cause conflicts and, at the least, will waste precious battery life.

Yes it is a droid x should check my spelling. The issue is and im not sure if I explained it right is when I downloaded launcher pro and after it was installed I hit my home button and it automatically switches to launcher pro instead of asking me to choose my default home screen. I do have home switcher and when I open it it shows launcher pro and stock home but it also says that there is no default home chossen. The option is not there like it is on my other phone. It just says launch and there is no option for default launcher again like on my other phone. Now when I downloaded the home switcher from the market i choose the one that said froyo since I have it. Maybe that's the deference. Ok im editing this I just downloaded home switcher again but not the froyo version and now I have the option to set a default launcher witch the froyo version does not show so kinda weird.

Home Switcher does not work correctly with Froyo on the X -- even the version that says it's for Froyo. It's a known issue.

So what exactly does someone do if they want to try LauncherPro? (step by step). Is it easy to go back to stock if I don't like it?

Can we still use the 'Contact quick tasks' widgets on top of LauncherPro

Just get the home switcher that is not for froyo. I also grabbed a defferent one that said that Motorola has something that keeps you from selecting the stock home as a default when there are other launchers but the apparently lets you disable that and now it all works the way it should. I can switch back beteween the stock and launcher pro at any time and set as the default.

So download 'Home Switcher' and 'LauncherPro' or any alternate launchers. Then remove ALL widgets from all screens? Should I reboot after removing the widgets just to make sure they aren't still running once back up? (Sorry for the newbie questions..I just want to make sure I don't still have stuff running in the background).

Then I assume open 'Home Switcher' and select 'LauncherPro'...then set it as default? Will I need to reinstall all my apps on the screens or do they copy over? Does anyone know if the Motorola widgets still work over LauncherPro? I want to keep the functionality of the 'Contact quick tasks' widget from the stock launcher.

Here is instruction to convert back to stock launcher...
After doing this when you press Home button you will recive the option to select default launcher..

There must be an error in your Launcher Pro and/or the Home Switcher. My recommendation is to uninstall both, do a battery pull (battery out, wait at least a full minute, re-install and turn on.). Then reinstall both. After this, you might consider doing another battery pull, just to settle things in. There SHOULD be an option to make one or the other the default.

BTW, if you don't have the paid version of LP (Launcher Pro PLUS), this might be part of the problem. The Plus version has a lot more options. Also, make sure you dl the icons pack for LP (free).

I have LP+, icon pack and Home Switcher ... and all work flawlessly, with the option to make stock or LPP the default.

For El Jefe...

After you dl Launcher Pro (again, I recommend the PAID version - Launcher Pro Plus) and Home Switcher, clear off your stock home screens of all icons and widgets before using LP+ ... for the reasons I mention above.

After you dl both apps (and the LP icons pack), you will open Home Switcher, select LP+ as your default. You will have to set up the screens again for LP+, but you will have a bunch more options AND you can back them up using a function found in the LP+ preferences. Some Moto widgets don't work well with LP or LP+, but Launcher Pro has a bunch of widgets that are even better than the stock ones. There is a LP widget called "People" that will have pix of your selected contacts and, at a touch, present options to call, email, text, see their listing in contacts.

The best part of LP+ is the revolving dock. Check the thread on LP+ for more.

PS - The Home Switcher listing on the Market says it won't work on 2.2, but it does.
