One minute it's there, the next minute it's not. I reset my phone and I still can't do it anymore.

This problem is back. I was using split screen and all of a sudden it stopped working. The options have disappeared. Has anyone else has these problems?

Are you on Pie? Are you sure you don't have gestures enabled instead of nav bar? Settings>display>navigation bar...

This happened on Oreo and Pie. I would be in the middle of using it and one of the screens would shut off and I can't open a second screen anymore. When when I restart my phone it won't let me.

Then out of nowhere it will start back working.

It has nothing to do with gestures.

I would guess that you have a 3rd party app that is causing the issue.

I split screen Facebook and chrome the most. I'll watch something on chrome and scroll through fb. Sometimes I wonder if it's a memory issue.

Restarting the phone would clear the RAM so probably not a memory issue since it doesn't immediately start working after a reset.
