Anyone else having this issue? Is it a new feature that that is a step backwards? I don't know how to get rid of the stories I've read now. WTH.

Don't remember if you could swipe away or not on Chrome...thought you could on the Google app (Discover), but I see you can't now. But on both you can still tap the menu button (three dots) on each story and select 'Hide Story'.

Just to be clear -- you're talking about the newsfeed that shows up in the main Google new tab page?

Have you tried clicking the three dots on each article? Many options in there.

Sorry should have attached a pic to make it easier . Up til yesterday you could swipe left or right to remove stories that you had read. Now as some one else mentioned you have to tap the 3 dots then hide the article. They actually added more steps to do something that was very simple.

That sounds like something Google would do.:p But I thought the swiping away of stories went away a long time ago -- it's been a while since I looked at stories on the Google website, since I usually use the Google app's Discovery feed.
