Can't sync contacts

I just re-flashed my phone with the latest ROM for Jelly Belly and gapps. Looks like everything went well, but my Contacts will not sync. I just get " Sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly."

Another note: My other items like Calendar, Chrome, Gmail, Play Music etc all synced up today.Contacts says it's last Sync was 7/7. This is also the last time I flashed my phone. I cleared the dalvik/cache when I flashed, both this time and definitely last time.

I also went into the apps settings and cleared out the data for Gmail and Google Contacts Sync.

Ideas?

If you just dirty flashed (wiped cache and dalvik) then it sounds like you need to do a full wipe, and reflash.
