Can't take a picture while in messaging

I liked when I could click on the camera button to take a picture and send it while in the messaging app, but for some reason the ability to do this stopped. Whenever I try to take a picture in the messaging app and try to send it, it just makes the camera click sound and nothing happens. Picture isn't in message box, or in camera roll.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? Does the camera actually open when you tap the camera button within the Messaging app, but then the picture doesn't actually take?

I have a Sony xperia xa ultra, and the camera does actually open, just it cannot take photos nor send already taken ones. Tried the solutions from the guy above. Still doesn't work.

Can you clarify which camera button you're pressing? Is it the camera icon in the messaging app (right where the text entry box is), or the physical camera button?

I'd suggest wiping the cache partition, but it looks like that isn't possible for your phone. You could try repairing the firmware using PC Companion:

Otherwise, consider a factory reset.
