Can't transfer photos

Suddenly my Note 2 (GT7100) is not recognised by Android File Transfer by either iPhoto or Lightroom on my iMac.A week ago I was able to connect and download 60 photos automatically. Today although Adroid File Transfer flashes up on iPhoto, I get a message that no device can be detected. There have been no changes to the Note in the last week. There was a message that AFT may not operate if Kies is installed, so I have updated Kies and then uninstalled it. No effect. I have reinstalled AFT on both Mac and Note, and re-started both. Need suggestions please/

Not sure how a mac works but if drivers are involved you may want to try reinstalling them. Happens all the time with windows. Windows 7 trys to replace the official samsung drivers with some generic ones in the windows 7 driver database that cause my phone to not be recognized.

Android File Transfer has never worked for me on any phone.
My transfer preference is Airdroid. You can get it from the play store. It allows you to transfer over WiFi.
