Can't type anything correctly on this Note 8!

I have had my Note 8 for 2 months and I still cant type on it. I hit wrong keys in just about every word. I have had the 3 previous Note phones and never had any problem with this at all... I'm more one of those people that gets comments about how crazy fast I type on my phone. Now I hit backspace and re-type way more that I type to begin with, and its enough to make me want to get rid of this phone that I otherwise love!

I read advice in other posts to download Swiftkey and Gboard. I've tried both but neither made a difference because the key placement was exactly the same as the default Samsung one.

Is there one out there that maybe would let me adjust the width of the keyboard displayed to make it just a little narrower/get it off the edges of the screen? I hate the edge design of this phone also but I can deal with that since there is no longer another option, if I can just get the typing problem solved. I figure if I could mimic the dimensions of the keyboard from the old Note, I might solve the problem?

TIA! :D

Since the Note 7, Samsung's keyboard has gotten almost unusable. I would recommend trying SwiftKey or Gboard.

even in swiftkey it's the same thing. the narrower keyboard causes mistake after mistake. Note 7's was so perfect. very few mistakes. that little bit of space matters when you're talking about fingers. and I'm not giving them my voice... so I'm just dealing too.

There are tons of keyboards in the play store I would give a few more a try before you give up.

Ever since Nite II I often just use the S-Pen which works well and accurate. BUT. Training the keyboard seems hopeless even with Gboard.

And many of my posts, the s po elling is atrocious!!

Everyone is different but Swiftkey made all the difference for me. With the stock keyboard I was hitting the ',' everytime I tried spacebar and all,my,sentences, were, looking, like, this. Just the slight difference on positioning in the Swifteky keyboard I haven't hit it by accident once and spell prediction and overall typing improved.

With that said, maybe go to Swiftkey settings and play with the resize... it doesn't allow pinpoint resizing of keys or positioning but start with large and type and see if the overall resize helps and then go down in size until you get to one that works for you?

swiftkey used to be so much better with resizing options. before they were free. I paid for tablet and regular and they were great with the options. now they just want your social/personal key data so they can sell it.

Am I the only one who uses the swiping method? I've been using it for years and it's just as fast and accurate as on all my previous devices. I really feel like it's way more forgiving than typing

swiping is counter intuitive to me

I like GBoard. Like this👇

I couldn't agree more. The Samsung keyboard seems to unintelligent. I switched to Gboard and that works for me.

To the OP: Did you try glide typing instead?

Nope, I use G board and use the swipe feature.

Your can try this one. The word prediction is excellent. You can resize the keyboard. I don't like the small line keyboard, but if you expand it to normal keyboard it seems to work pretty good. There is a free version to try it out first.

Make sure to turn sloppy typing on.

OP do you have glide or swipe typing turned off in keyboard preferences? If not, try that.

It's not them. Keyboards have never been great on Android phones, they just have to find the one that works the best for them. It's an Android thing, I will say that years ago when I had the iPhone 4s, typing accuracy was way better on it.

Everything has a weakness, Android one weakness is the keyboard.

Have to tried the one handed mode on G board. That's what I do, seems to work decent. You can adjust the keyboard height also.

My brother uses the following keyboard, he loves it. You can try it. When it comes to keyboards, I've tried so many, I finally settled on G board

Below is picture of one handed option for G board.
