Hi I have an unlocked SM-G900T and I just downloaded Marshmallow by tapping the system update. Google Play shows that Samsung Voice Recorder should be updated however when I tap update I get a message that it can't be installed try again error 505. If I go to the app drawer and tap the app called voice recorder I can record. Do you have any idea what's going on?

I just finished updating as well and am having the same problem.

Edit: I tried clearing the memory and cache on it and tried updating it again. Still said it failed.

So I factory reset my phone because It was acting up and after downloading all my apps back on I looked at the voice recorder and it now says not compatible with your device. I looked at the description and it said it only worked with android 6.0 phones such as the note 5, galaxy s6, galaxy s7, and all the 2016 mid range Samsung phones like the Galaxy J series, etc.

Seems like most of the Samsung apps in the play store are like that. Samsung only providing apps for 2106 models of their devices. Or their newer devices. I don't know if I like that direction. Other apps like Samsung Music, and even the Gallery photo edit app you can't update unless you have a 2016 model or later.

So, that's interesting that they are beginning to only offer app updates or service apps for their new devices.

I actually went through the app store to see how many of my Samsung apps needed updating. Their were quite a few that needed updating but when I tap the update tab, it just tells me that they are not compatible with my device. The Samsung account store they have doesn't offer any updates to my Samsung apps either.

Maybe a half dozen or more apps or so were like that where it wouldn't let me update.

but anyway. Yeah...I can't update my voice recorder app either. And for the same reason. Update for the app is not compatible with my 2014 flagship device. That's just beautiful.

Don't update your Android 5 to Android 6!

Don't update your Android 5 to Android 6!
My Samsung Note 4 Android 5 built-in Voice Recorder was perfect, allowing me to catch very good records of a concert (2-h long record of Mozart Great Mass k427 with 2 choirs and a vast orch, from 5-7th rank, was excellent, and a pleasure to listen to repeatedly for work on the choirs and orch scores and variants) or conference (similar). It has a couple modes, including:
- default (omnidirectional, actually works perfect in most situations)
- interview (record is in 2 channels, using the Note 4 microphones)
- meeting (8 channels, using the Note 4 microphones and the software)
- memo
Unfortunately after I (stupidly) accepted the "update" (a downgrade actually) from Android 5 Lollipop to Android 6 Marshmallow, the Voice recorder got limited to 5-minute recording, with no alternative option. This totally destroys the former great usefulness of this app; the only cases where it still can be used (some regular phone calls) are not only infrequent, but better served with specific call recorder apps.
