Can't Use built in Motorola mail app

I want to use the default email app instead of the gmail app if possible. But Eve time I try to login it says imap folders aren't enabled. But if I go to gmail.com and into settings, it shows the folders and says that imaps enabled. I can get my gmail to work with my iOS default email app. Please help
