Captivate says charging with no charger

My samsung Captivates battery indicater says that it is charging after i unplug my charger it will say it is still charging for hours if i power the phone off it will not power back up at all sometimes i can take out the battery and reinsert battery and sometimes it will power up sometimes it it will show battery indicater like it is still charging but will not let me power the phone up does any one have any clue what to do ?

At least yours say it is charging, only way to get mine to charge is ti push the usb cord to the side and front at same time. The port on it is shot, have tries 6 different micro usb cables all the same result. I'm trying to figure out how to fix.

This happened to me as well after i flashed a version of ICS. Just on a whim after trying every trick i could possibly think of, i used odin to go back to stock. Still had the same issue and after odining another two or three times, it righted itself. Flashed and have been since running jelly bean without port issues
