Captivate screen stuck in portrait view

All of the sudden this afternoon my captivate will not rotate to landscape mode on and apps.I have already checked the auto rotate option, but it didn't make a difference.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like somebody flashed an i9000 rom from the i9000 forum?

You need to run a re-oriented kernel if you did. Couple of choices-

EDIT- Actually, if you were running i9000, it would be stuck in landscape, not the other way around. Recalibrate your horizontal sensor, last option in MENU-DISPLAY

I'm running Cognition 4.5.3 with kernel version 2.6.32.9. It has been working fine until yesterday.

I have tried to re-calibrate the horizontal sensor a couple of time, but it did not fix the problem. I did notice earlier that the screen switched to horizontal view while I had the car charger plugged in. Once I disconnected the charger it went back to portrait view.
