I was looking for away to stream movies from my Captivate to the TV.

I tried 3 different different 6FT cables.

RND Power Solutions $9.99
Ranks Number 1

Amazon.com: RND Power Solutions Extra Long 3.5mm to RCA Adapter Stereo TV-Out Cable for: Samsung (Captivate i897 and Vibrant T959), Nokia (N8, N86, X6) Smart phones: Electronics

RND Power Solutions cable is also made specific for the Captivate and no need to mess with color coding. Offers a thinker cable than the others and feels more sturdy and put together with great quality. Includes Aluminum RCA shell casing and Gold plated 3 RCA Tips. The best feature is the picture and audio quality. It's not HD but the clear audio and video is perfect to watch movies.
When they put this cable together they knew what they were doing.

Best Audio and Video Quality and for a great price.

Samsung OEM Cable $14.99
Ranks Number 2
Amazon.com: Samsung OEM 3.5mm to RCA TV Out Cable ECC1TX1BBEGSTA for Samsung Galaxy s i897 Captivate and T959 Vibrant: Cell Phones & Accessories

Samsung Cable is made specific for the Captivate and no need to mess with color coding. Cable offers ok audio and video quality.

Cable is very thin with plastic molding and feels flimsy.

Camcorder AV cable. $6.99
Ranks Number 3

Amazon.com: TV Out Cable for Samsung Galaxy S: Epic 4G Fascinate Captivate Vibrant Omnia II, 3.5mm to RCA Composite: Electronics

Samsung Captivate uses a different color coding system then the regular camcorder setting. You can use an AV cable if you switch the red and yellow plug. Red is for video and yellor for audio.

AV cable is thin with cheap plastic molding to house the 3 RCA tips.
Worst Audio and Video Quality out of the three.

Ive tried a $2.99 Gmax cable and an OEM Samsung ECC1TX1BBEGSTA cable. Both of them the video is monochrome and broken into unusable bits. The gmax cable audio is mostly static and the Samsung cable no audio at all. I am selecting TV Out, under display options and have tried different color jack combinations. At my wits end on this. I am wondering if the (official)2.2 update has anything to do with this problem

datastar-
are you running 2.2 froyo on your captivate? what brand cable are you using? Yes, I have switched red and yellow (better, but still monochrome and broken video signal)

UPDATE: I received my third cable in the mail today, the RND brand mentioned in the original article. It actually works! Strange the OEM Samsung cable works not at all... BTW, the RND cable is properly color coded for (at least my) Captivate. Marcsmith is not exaggerating the quality of the RND it is a much more substantial cable than Samsungs, but most importantly, IT WORKS!
