Captivate Won't Boot

Hi guys, a few minutes ago, I was installing an app on my captivate. It then froze, and wouldn't respond. So I pulled the battery out and reinserted it (while the phone was charging with my computer), and now the screen shows a picture of a battery with 5 small dots under it that keep flashing. Is this normal? It's taking my phone a very long time to boot.

Never mind, guys. I found the problem. I had to unplug the charger and then boot my phone. I guess the picture of the battery is just a charging screen. I guess you can't boot your phone when it's charging.

That is news to me! My captivate is a launch model and even falls into the shutdown models and I can boot my phone while charging! Just have to hold the power button for a few seconds!
