Captured a screenshot and now my camera cannot save images?

I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and just received the 4.0.2 update today. Not sure if that is relevant, but I mention it just in case anyone else experiences the same thing.

Earlier today i attempted to take a screenshot while in the video camera mode (not actually recording video). After this screenshot it showed "Saving screenshot" in the notification area. That notification never cleared and no screenshot showed up in the gallery.

Eventually I restarted the phone and the notification is of course cleared, but now there is a blank thumbnail in the screenshots folder in the gallery. This image cannot be deleted from the phone. When attempting to delete the image using a computer attached to the phone, the Explorer window stops responding.

If I try to use the camera to take pictures I'll get a not responding for the camera and no pictures will be saved.

I've tried clearing the camera data from Settings -> Apps menu, but the image and the problem persists.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to clear that thumbnail and allow me to take photos again that doesn't involve resetting to factory?

i have the exact same problem camera wont save anything and however i try to delete my previous photos, they won't budge
