I have car chargers in all my cars for my LGV10 that I had. Now I have the Note 8 and it has a different input than my LG. Can I just buy a new cord that fits my USB charger to my Note or do I have to buy an entire new charger?

Thanks!

You can buy a USB C adapter to make the cord work with your Note 8. That is, if the V10 use a micro USB cord to begin with? The part that connects to the charger itself is always going to be the same no matter what phone you have but of course the other end of the cord you may need adapter depending on the phone type

Yup, you can. Either get the USB-C cable (or use the one that comes with your phone) or get a micro-USB-to-USB-C adapter (which, also, comes in the box). Problem with the adapter is that some chargers will not recognize fast charging due to the added impedance, so that might be an issue if you have a fast-charger for your car. Also, if you do, make sure that the Fast Charging is compatible with your Note 8 or it will only charge with 'normal' speed.

If your V10 has a USB C cord then it will work on your Note 8. I had a v20 a while back and regularly used that cord to charge my Note 8

V10 is microUSB :) OP will need either a new cable or an adapter.

Thanks for all the replies!!!! I will try the adaptor ....forgot it was in the box! I want to get a wireless car charger but until then....

speaking of...what's the best wireless car charger out there? I've been looking around online.

Just beware of wireless chargers without a cradle to sit on. The note is heavy and will fall off those sticky ones and even slide on most magnetic ones come the first bump in the road.

Don't have experience with those but it does have a grip on it, so it's OK. It's the ones with a sticky, angled surface or magnetic plates that aren't suited for something this big. That one should be fine unless the build is crappy and the grip arms open up on their own.

I drive a Jeep and an E350 Super Duty. Trust me....I will not trust my phone to a sticky pad. LOLOL

I got a dual port Aukey 3.0 quick charger with the braided cable. It works for both my LG V20 and Note 8.

I have the iOttie Easy One Touch 4 Wireless. It's Fast Charge compatible and charges my Note 8 with no worries.

I found it at Best Buy, and I've seen it at Walmart.

I bought a Ptuna wireless car charger. it had good reviews but it won't charge my phone with a case on. :( Anyone have one that works with a case on your phone?

OP, as others have mentioned, micro usb to micro usb c adapters are the way to go. You should have recieved 1 with your phone.

I bought these when I got my Note 8 and they're great. Saved me from needing to buy micro usb c cables. And the tether chain is also great. Don't have to worry about losing the adapter in the event that I need the old micro usb plug instead. Can't beat it for $6.
