Car Charger

I just got a universal car charger the other day, the output is 5v 500mah. When running Google Nav it seems to maintain a charge, but will not replenish the battery. Running anything additional, like making a call, the battery begins to drain.

I'm assuming that a charger with the same output as the wall charger the Incredible came with, 5v 1000mah, should be enough to replenish the battery under a heavy load. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone else experiencing this?

I bought this, MINI CAR CHARGER USB ADAPTER FOR MP3 MP4 IPHONE 3G 3GS - eBay (item 300411004219 end time Jun-23-10 09:35:29 PDT), and just plug my data cable into it. I can leave it in the cigarette lighter port, as it fits uniformly in the slot and makes it look like a USB power port. Works great and charges while I use NAV and am on the phone.

I was looking for a USB car adapter and ended up with this one from Amzer. 2 USB outlets and 5V 2000ma. It's also got a replaceable fuse and a rechargeable little flashlight...woohoo! Should be enough to power my GPS and charge my phone.

i agree, i have done the same thing. i can run my nav (with the screen on), slacker radio, and still charge my phone at the same time. the one i bought was only $2.
AND in case you want to get a separate data cable to keep in your car, ebay has them for $2 as well. just make sure the cord length. i bought one assuming it was 3ft and it was only 2.5, but the listing didn't say how long the cord would be.

AND in case you want to get a separate data cable to keep in your car, ebay has them for $2 as well. just make sure the cord length. i bought one assuming it was 3ft and it was only 2.5, but the listing didn't say how long the cord would be.

I bought a 3' retractable cord off of eBay for 1.99 It works great and keeps things looking neat, as there is no extra cable hanging loose.

bought one from auto parts store i work in. spent $7 and no problems yet. also got $5 universal phone holder that is open faced enough to belt clip to my ash tray and turn so my daughter can watch mickey mouse on you-tube on the way to daycare. love it!!

I was listening to the pod cast from last week they briefly mention different power ratings on chargers so what is the largest charger I can get for a faster charge in a 12volt setting my current time is 4 hours to charge with a belkin usb style charger

Order the Seidio charger, it has the same ma as the factory charger. The storm 2 charger is 750ma which will work but isn't white as good as the Seidio one.

I was lucky enough that when I returned my Palm Pre Plus the Car Charger for that one worked for my Incredible as well ^_^

I have my charger from the original storm, and I used it to charge it for a 3 hour road trip right after i picked it up, and in that time i downloaded so many apps listened to a lot of youtube and played a lot of games and streamed videos online and my batt went from 14% (was 15% out of box) to about 95% in 1.5 hrs of charging from the verizon bb charger.
