Car dock mode

I just got a car dock for my charge and i was wondering ir there is a way to change the default apps. When i press the navigation icon it launches Verizon navigator not google maps navigation.

Verizon has pretty much locked us out on customizing that one. Best thing to do is turn off the auto launch in dock settings then use an app called AutomateIt (it's in the market) to launch another car dock home screen (I use car home ultra, but there are others) which can be setup to use whatever navigation app you like. This setup will give you far more flexibility than using verizon's defaults.

I use danalo's Humble 1.5 ROM which contains a customizable AOSP dock. If you remain stock, however, you're pretty much locked out from changing the applications on the dock. I returned my navigation dock when I was stock for that very reason! Since then I've been using an Xway vent mount which works great and travels much easier!
