I have done a search...

Why don't they accommodate cases??? Most people are NOT going to want to take their cases on/off just to use the car dock or home dock, I sure as heck don't... I don't want to spend the EXTRA 5 minutes just to have to do that... its ridiculous!

I bought that HTC/Sprint car dock hoping it would work with my Seidio case and it would have if the micro usb end of the dock that the EVO slides into wasn't there and just had a support to hold it but then it wouldn't be a "true" dock then would it??? I don't care about the "true" dockness of it...

oi... technology is getting stupider... flip phones are better then you can just shove it in your pocket and you don't need a car holder for it!!! ha!

Because there are a number of different MFG's of Cases and they all have different thickness and styles... Would make it nearly impossible to make a good solid car dock that held the EVO (or any phone for that matter) perfectly with a case. They make these docks after the phone itself...

Your probably going to have to end up with a universal car dock that clamps down on the phone to better match up with your case and then get a car charger if you want to charge the phone..

Seidio has a car dock coming and they say it works with their cases....

Yeah I know it... that's why I was saying if the bottom part of the HTC dock wasn't there it would work and they'd just have to make sure there were supports at the bottom as I said it would then make the "dockyness" pointless if the dock part was removed.

I right now have a universal mount/holder that sits in my cup holder, its ok but its next to me rather than in front of me and I need it in front. Seidio cases are OK I am not superly thrilled with it but if they are making a car dock then I will stick with Seidio, I prefer Otterbox they have given me a better impression so far however I do not foresee anyone making a dock specific to Otterbox.

Thanks for your reply :)

I bought a universal vent-mount and windshield-mount combo from Arkon and I like it a lot - it will work with pretty much any case on your EVO if I had to guess. The vent-mount does not work well for me, but the windshield mount is really sweet.

Hard to beat the price. Good luck!

Yeah heard that Arkon is good... I guess I will get this one, not sure gotta see what Seidio is coming out with on their car docks for EVO

Yeah, any sort of universal clampy-dock should work fine with cases. I bought this one from Monoprice. Kinda expensive at $3.50, but it should do the trick. ;)

I actually had this dock and only used it a couple of weeks.. I hated the way it hooked up to the air vent... the dash mount was okay but several times (in the 100+ heat) it would drop... Lucky with out the phone in it...

But I also have had my Garmin drop from the dash in the heat god knows how many times.... I am sure the "Official" evo dock will too eventually... As long as the phone isn't attached I am okay...

the thing with that arkon mount is that the vent clips are going to slide around, there's no spring to really clamp to the vent.

Heat is certainly an issue with mounts that stick on the dash or on the window, true :( you would think by now they would have come up with better solutions.

If I were driving a smaller vehicle where the window is closer to me I would be more likely to use the windshield suction cup but its a diesel F350 the dash is deeper and the window is further away.

I have a proclip for my Garmin Nuvi 775T proclip only offers two different mounting options for my truck (as with most vehicles, they only offer one or two options) but right now proclips doesn't have a holder for the HTC EVO yet.

I need to consider getting rid of my Garmin Nuvi 775T, my phone has navigation already, I need to try out the navigation on my phone and see how it compares with my Garmin... I like my garmin, great voice, lane assists, intelligent rerouting, etc.

If I get rid of my Garmin, I will have room for my EVO :)

Here's the one I use with the EVO. It's also from Arkon. Even though it's windshield mount, I've had no issues with it losing suction, even in the high heat we've had for the last month or so. Works fine with my Innocase from Seidio. It allows for 360 degree rotation of the phone, so you can easily orient the phone in portrait or landscape mode. Also, despite what one reviewer says on Amazon's web site, the USB charger plugs in just fine.

The nice thing about it is that it gets the phone very much within easy reach, especially if you have a relatively wide dashboard.

They also have a 14" model, but I can't speak for it as I haven't used it.

Edit: Also, the Arkon mount does not block the camera.
