Car kit for HTC EVO?

I just ordered this for now until Seidio, HTC, or ProClip comes out with their own.

Yeah, I saw that one too before I ordered the iGrip Travel Kit. I think it's great for people who drive bigger cars with windshields that are out of reach.

I got one from Sprint.com , works great and swivels landscape and vertical, and adjusts like 3 other ways as well. attaches to windshield.

I forgot all about this thread. Here are a couple pics of the car mount I posted the link for earlier. I have one in my car and one in my work truck. I've had them for about 8 or 9 months and used them with a Pre, Moment, and now the Evo and they work great.

I have the Universal Radioshack vent mount and it works great. It doesn't have a built-in usb charger, but you can easily plug in your car charger while its in the mount. This is actually preferable to me because I don't have to have a cord attached unless I need it...pretty clean install!

RS also has a mount for around $35 that plugs directly into the cig lighter, but I don't know much about it.

Does that work well in landscape mode as well?

There's two on sprint.com, they have a universal kit and a universal travel kit which is more portable. Which one did you get? Neither of them say anything about swivel landscape\vertical. Can you just turn it quickly or do you need to loosen a knob then you're able to rotate the phone?

It doesnt look like either one, I got mine in the palm pre days. I would say the traveler kit looks like it the most though.

I'm a DIY'r so I figured i'd try and make one that mounts my HTC EVO to my Mitsubishi EVO lol.

I'll post pics of it when it's completed.

what clock/ weather widget are you using??

I received my iGrip Traveler Kit car mount a few days ago from Amazon. It's the same exact car mount that Sprint carries, but Amazon sells them $10 cheaper. Here are my Pros and Cons:

Pros:
  • Great suction cup. Sticks onto the windshield really well. Haven't had any problems trying to make it stick or stay on the windshield. (Note: I live in the Bay Area (California) where the weather is pretty warm/hot in this time of the year. So I haven't tested the suction cup in cold weather yet).
  • Easy to adjust the angle of the mount and the holder by loosening and tightening the two knobs.
  • Holder can do a full 360 turn, so you can have your phone in portrait or landscape mode.
  • Holder can hold one of the biggest smartphones out there right now, even with a case. :)
  • Holder is very well padded, so you don't have to worry about your Evo or your case getting scratched.
  • It's easy to attach and remove the Evo from the holder using one hand.
  • The clamps on the holder grips onto the Evo very well. Feels tight and secure.
  • All ports and buttons are still accessible when attached.

Cons:
  • No built-in charger.
  • The Evo bounces around when driving on bumpy roads. <-- This is my biggest gripe. It makes it a bit difficult to read the screen sometimes. I wish this car mount was as stable/stiff as the Garmin car mount.

And here are some pics...

Dammit. If it wasn't so hot here, I'd be all over that one. Looks real good. Thanks for the pics.
