Since the update the car panel no longer automatically comes up when the phone is docked in my car dock. I have put the phone in and out of the dock a few times for it to come up. Anyone else notice this? Any ideas? The phone charges ok when docked so I don't believe its an issue with the chargeport or cradle.

I don't have an HTC car dock.
Upgaded to Gingerbread a few days ago.
I saw that the Car Panel app is still able to be launched from a Search, so it's still on the phone.

I have the HTC Multimedia Charging Dock, and it launches a new Dock Mode app with Gingerbread.
With Froyo it launched a clock, but now with Gingerbread it launches a landscape photo slideshow with clock, weather, dimmer, status bar, and a few other app shortcuts displayed.

So, the Multimedia dock launcher still works.

I know its still there. If I put the phone in the dock and take it back out again a few times then it comes up. It should come up automatically.

I have notices that mine does not automatically launch either after the update, this is unfortunate, but does not really bother me.

Ok. At least now I know its not just me. If anyone has a fix please chime in.

Forgive me for saying this because its not the fix you are looking for, but in case you haven't tried it, the CarHome Ultra app is awesome. I liked it way better than the stock car panel app. 3 custom pages of 6 large icons you can set, landscape dialer, speedometer, compass and weather options, plus automatic shut off of wifi and the app when you turn on and off your bluetooth headset (that's optional of course). The developer is responsive and actively working on it. Up soon is a optional speed warning if you want it to let you know when you accidentally hit a certain speed. Car panel looks great but I've come to really like the CarHome Ultra app.

Sorry I don't have a fix for you but at least you know you have options. Did you try the old pull battery, sim card, and sd card for two minutes trick? who knows! Good luck!

Yeah, pulled the battery already. Felt like it was a blackberry doing that. It didn't change anything. I'll check out the other app. But I would like to see the native stuff working properly.

Another thing is, for me anyway, you still have to have the cardock unplugged when attaching the TB for the car panel to come up. No problems getting it to come up when unplugged however. Perhaps Micwag isnt getting his phone fully seated in the dock when he first tries to get in in. It CAN be a little stiff the first several times.

Have had the car dock since I got the phone. It is seated correctly. First thing I checked. Shouldn't matter plugged in to charge or not. But I have installed the phone to the dock with the charger plugged in and not. No difference with the issue I'm having. This only started since the update. Worked ok today. Maybe it was a glitch that corrected itself.

I am also having intermittent problems with car mode on my TB. I noticed that with the car adapter not plugged in, my TB will go into car mode more consistently (thus, try 9er Faithful's suggestion of unplugging the charger cable before cradling your phone.)

Also, at your home page, hit the magnifying glass and search for "car panel." Click on the Car Panel icon (i.e. map with a compass) and you should get straight into car mode. Now each time you hit search, the icon will appear.

Better yet, I just downloaded free Car Mode Control app by IG88 Apps from the Market. I put it's icon on my home page and I can switch into Car Mode with a single press.

I'll check out micwag2's suggestion of using CarHome Ultra.

I place mine in the dock before I start the car and it works every time. If car is running and I place it in the dock it works about 20% of the time. Using an igrip verizon branded dock.
