Hi. There has been a lot of publicity about AT&T installing the Carrier IQ spyware rootkit in the Android phones they sell. There are instructions here
Finding and cleaning out your smartphone?s Carrier IQ poison | ZDNet

on how to detect whether a phone is infected with CIQ, but it required that the phone be rooted. Question: have any of you peeps with rooted Infuses checked if you are infected with CIQ?
-Duard.

I installed the logging checker.

The results read:

Starting Common Carrier IQ Activities...
Activity Start Test Complete. If nothing started main APK was not found.

******CIQ File List*****

CIQ Check Complete!

....

I guess this means it didn't find anything...

One of the other functions did find some common log directories, but they appeared tied to apps...

Well, I just installed Carrier IQ Detector (from the Market). My Infuse does not the Carrier IQ app. Yeah! On the other hand, my partner's Epic (on Sprint) does.

I should caveat that I'm running Infused (1.6). So that might not mean my phone didn't have it originally.

Egidio, are you running the stock rom?

I'm running the AT&T leaked KK4 with a rooted kernel. Mine shows positive for the CIQ.

Warning - Warning - Warning

Do not remove CIQ. It put my phone into a loop. Luckily I keep my phone backed up. After restoring, I again tried and the exact same thing happened, so I know that it wasn't a fluke.

I am running the stock FROYO.UKCH1 (but rooted, of course). As far as I can tell, it does not have Carrier IQ installed.

I am running stock Froyo (UCKD5). Ran the Carrier IQ detector. Happy to report it is not on my phone.

I am running Infused 2.2.3 here and there is no Carrier IQ on my phone.
