I just bought a S9+ (G965U) that was a carrier unlock. Supposedly, the phone was new in an unopened box, but it looks like the phone was unlocked by a 3rd party.
What features would be disabled on the phone when it is unlocked from a carrier? It looks like the phone was previously locked to T-mobile. So far I've discovered the menu on the camera screen is very different from other S9+ phones and it's missing many menu options/icons. The AR Emoji feature is missing and the Super Slow-Mo feature is missing. Also, the "Samsung Account" option is missing for transferring data from another phone.
Looking at the box, when I received the phone, the box was shrink wrapped and the S9 font on the number "9" was different as compared to the 9 on a real Samsung box. There are also other printing abnormalities on the box. And the SIM tray is made of plastic. I'm thinking this might be a cloned phone... Thanks for your help!
