Carrier unlocked???

Back in march, when the edge first came out, I bought one from Verizon. I know that Verizon runs on cdma. But a frien of mine told me that all verizon phones are sold unlocked. Does that mean this edge will run on all networks eith their sim card installed? Even if it's a gsm network?

Yes, it will. You may not get LTE depending on what band(s) are used, but otherwise it should work. The only caveat that I know of is that some low cost prepaid Verizon phones, such as the Moto E, are locked until you activate them on a Verizon plan. Once activated, they will be SIM unlocked as well.
