Like the title says, I just wanted to know if there is any difference in the carrier variants over the unlocked one? Best Buy had a deal on the AT&T 64 GB Pixel 4 for $0 on a monthly installment. So I decided I wanted to try it out. But I also want to make sure that there isn’t going to be any crazy delay on updates or bloatware on it.

Coming from 4 years on iOS.

Unlocked: less bloat ,no carriers splash screen,no video call through dialer app ,no RCS ,no WiFi calling, reception not as good .

Att version: carrier bloat , better signal , wifi calling ,RCS ,better reception.

If you but unlocked can flash to carrier model if choose

What apps does it have added? I hate the stupid splash screen crap. Guess I’ll get over it for a free phone. What about updates?

Updates lately been pretty good ,Att version probably has the most preloaded apps , but can be disabled or uninstall

I'm on AT&T with an unlocked phone, and I have Wi-Fi calling. There are also RCS workarounds to get that working as well. My signal has been the same or better than my previous HTC U12+

I'm on AT&T and actually have no splash screen. When I boot up the phone it just says Google and loads to my home screen. Also, I really didn't have much bloat on the phone.

OMG , guys sorry I thought this was Samsung thread ...lol. Disregard what I said

I have the 128GB AT&T variant. No splash screen, only a few AT&T apps which can all be uninstalled. You get wifi calling and VoLTE. Reception is good and calls sound like you're on a landline at least with other AT&T users. No dropped calls. Very satisfied.

I have the unlocked version and my office mate has the at&t version. There was no noticeable difference in boot or firmware. My unlocked version even offered to install the same att apps. To my knowledge, the one att sells is sim locked to the carrier.

Unlocked you'll risk the chance of not being able to get wifi calling or hd voice if you have to make any plan changes or have to register your device IMEI for any reason.

Switch to Verizon and you won’t be restricted by this bull crap that AT&T tries to pull over on unlocked phones.
