Greets All!

So I have 2 cases for my S8+ Orchid my first was this:20170512_091436[1].jpg

and my second is this:

I prefer the latter because it shows off the color of the phone. The black case is your typical heavy duty rough case and the second is a Spigen clear case which I am very happy with bumpers and all. My issue is screen protection.

Now I know many people are anti screen protector. I hear "Gorilla Glass 5? No screen protector needed" But, I am leery and apprehensive. Like a new dad I want all the protection I can get. I have been through 3 screen protectors already.

First was my tempered glass, which didn't cover the curve, so that went as it looked stupid
Second was a curved screen protector which still bubbled at the edges
Third, current is the old plastic/vinyl (whatever it is old style protector).

The problem is. when the case is on the phone, it causes the edges all around the phone to bubble up. I never had this problem with my Note 4. Has anyone experienced this. Any thoughts?

It's the curved screens. Even the regular S7 had this problem because of the slight curve that has as well. The tempered glass for these phones because of the curved screens only have adhesive on the edges which cause them to get air pockets and easily lift.

Personally I don't think they're worth the money. All of them are not a very good fit. Just keep the phone with nothing else in your pocket with it and it should be fine. I think screen protectors are getting to be a thing of the past with these curved displays. The next iPhone is rumored to have curved display so that will really put a dent in the screen protector market.

Here is a review I wrote of the "Invisible Defender" screen protector on Amazon. I'm not sure what case that is but I'm using the Spigen ultra hybrid (clear back) and it's great.

Fitment:
These screen protects work well if you use the right case. I have three cases and, of those 3, the only case that isn't peeling the protector is the Spigen ultra hybrid.

The reason why the ultra hybrid works is because it extends about 1/8" past the volume, power and bixby buttons. The other cases I have only extend about 1/16" past these buttons and it is causing the protector to lift near those buttons.

Performance:
I have experienced no issues with the usability of the touch screen. The fact that it wraps around the edges of the screen makes it nice when you're accessing your edge menu as there is nothing to catch your finger on.

Durability:
This is a cheap plastic screen protector. Don't expect it to prevent major cracking if you drop the phone. This is simply to prevent scratches on the face from things like keys and coins in your pocket.

Overall, it's a great product that works a lot better than most screen protectors on this device.

It's trial and error.

Even some of the "case friendly" screen protectors can vary.

Def. agree that screen protectors will phased out sooner than later.

HTC just released a luxe, limited edition of their U Ultra with a real-deal sapphire display. Once Apple and Samsung get on that and put out phones with curved sapphire displays that are also ultra scratch resistant, I don't see too many buying screen protectors.

Yeah, once sapphire screens are the norm screen protectors will become a useless market. I'm sure there will still be some uninformed consumers buying screen protectors though.

I've worn my Tissot watch 5 days a week for about 6 months. The face of it is sapphire and has absolutely no scratches. It's a great product.

I skipped the glass protectors, with the edge they are a pain. I did go with the IQ Shield LiQuidSkin one to just help with scratches. Didn't use one on my S7 edge and got a nice scratch down the middle, not sure how it happened but it bugged the crap out of me.
