Case? button cutouts or not?

I have a tech21 tpu from VZW. It's a bit bulky for. Me, everyone says get the diztronic from Amazon but it, like the one I have has covered buttons. Volume, power. My GF has the caselology with holes for the volume and Power. I think I prefer that. Talk me out of it.
