So, I'm debating which direction to go here. I have a clear thin case for my Pixel 4 XL, but I'm floating the idea of skinning it with dbrand. Anyone done that? How has it been holding up?

Go for it ! You won't you won't go wrong with a Dbrand skin... They hold up well and you can also use them with the clear case

I personally prefer other skins to dbrand b/c they don't make a clear option.

I used the clear from SlickWraps ... Exceptional just take your time with the install ..

I have a clear slickwraps for my blue Note 10+ as well. I have a phantomskinz on there right now.
I'm usually very good with installs but the PhamtomSkinz I couldn't get to install the way I wanted..

I use a dbrand skin for my 2XL and a back skin from dbrand on my 4XL with a clear case. Just ordered a skin from easyskinz. Cost me £4.80 free UK postage. That is for the 2XL skin.

is the phone able to charge wirelessly with both a dbrand/slickwraps/other skin AND a clear case?
@kirstein - my Pixel 2 XL (panda version) has a clear thin case, and recently had it replaced by Google. No need to skin that one. :) One other reason I was considering skinning the Pixel 4 XL is because the black is, well, kinda boring. I have to wait awhile to get a white one, so opted for the black. I want to spice it up a bit.

Wireless charging will not be affected with a skin and case.

Yes wireless charging works with a skin and clear case on it.

So regardless of thickness of the case and skin, it'll still charge? I ask because at least with my wife's Note, with the case it won't charge.
If the case is too thick it won't charge but I don't think it will because of the skin ... Does her phone charge without skin and that case ?

Hers doesn't have a skin, but with the case, no. I don't think the case is particularly thick either, but could be the material (faux leather) or something in the case build that's blocking it in some way.

I'm not comfortable with the protection a skin is going to give a glass phone when dropped versus a nicely designed protective case. The only way I'd ever run a skin would be under a quality protective clear case.

Case all the way for me... Don't trust 'skins' nor do they offer the drop protection that a case does.

You can be careful as you can, but sods law something happens and you drop your phone... That's where a decent case, ie. Spigen etc comes in to its own!

I've been using my clear case while I wait for the dbrand skin to arrive. Based on the comments I've gotten, I can still get wireless charging with both dbrand and case (mine is a thin TPU) on at the same time.
