Case recommendations?

So I have a 32gb pure edition moto x 2014 on the way. I went with a black back, black front, and dark gray trim. I went with a pedestrian make like that because I wanted something practical and I knew I would be putting a case on it anyway and didn't want some noticeable colors clashing with that. Also, I already liked the look of the stock black model, but wasn't a super fan of the silver speaker grills. So I went with dark gray instead.

However, I'm a bit bummed it's not going to arrive until jan. 6th. I know that they need to assemble it and all, but my configuration is pretty basic. Really the only difference between what I got and the stock carrier model is I wanted the dark gray trim rather than the silver.

Anyway, in the mean time I need to decide on a case for the phone. Any recommendations?

Many threads on this already. I like the iBason and the CaseMate gelli.

I personally have the Supcase Frost clear/Black on Amazon. Some of the others are casemate naked and CIMO.

I've used the iBlason for almost a year. Two problems. I've had one holster snap off a finger just from normal use, and I caught a tie from my parka in the second one and snapped off another finger. Also the silicone liner stretches out of shape after installing and removing the phone about a dozen times.

I've since converted to using the Otter Box Defender. More expensive, but better built, and it'll probably rip my parka off before the holster breaks.

I have only had it two weeks, but i love the i-bason. Its very sturdy, keeps it slim, adds grip, and is very inexpensive.

So right now I think I'm between the supcase uncorn beetle, the I-bason, and the diztronic case. If I go with the clear backed supcase I may be mad at myself for not picking a colored backed moto x customization.

The supcase also come in a black back, as well as a few other colors. I have the black and love it.

+1

Got mine on eBay for 10 bucks and free shipping. The case keeps the slim profile of the phone which is nice while giving just enough grip.

So I went ahead and actually got the diztronic case. I read some positive reviews and it was only 10 bucks on Amazon.

Anyway, is there a chance my phone may arrive before January 6th? I'm still bummed I have to wait that long, ha ha.

I did not think that the Hula bumper that Motorola had would be all that great. Turned out I was wrong. the Hula bumper surprisingly protected the phone really well and I was glad that I went with that one.

About shipment..I was told that mine would be getting to me by the end of October. It showed up a week early. It was a basic phone with not much added to it so, I was confused as to why it would take so long. Turns out, they had shipped it 4 days after I ordered mine.

I auditioned this phone. Bought a black model from Best Buy on Monday. It's a beautiful, well-made phone with neat touchless controls. ...and it's very very very smooth in operation. A truly nice phone. However, the lack of accessories at retail locations stinx. Having to order cases online doesn't appeal to my immediate gratification whims at all. I took the phone back for several reasons but who knows what the Spring will bring.

i-Blason...Junk...phone dropped screen shattered in a zillion pieces! $125 to replace

I'm still in search of a suitable case, just returned the Incipio Dual Pro. It was well made and fit like a glove but was slick. Waiting for the Hula Bumper to come back in stock. Ordered a Ditztronic for the mean time.

The only cases AT&T had were the Otterbox Defender, a nice looking clear CaseMate, and a junky looking Incipio. What I discovered is that the screen is not flat from edge to edge so when the rep applied the BodyGuardz tempered glass it halo'd pretty bad. Very annoying. Is there some benefit to rounding the glass?

The rounded glass looks nice and I'm sure Moto wasn't thinking about tempered glass screen protectors when they designed it. Regardless, I ditched the BodyGuardz protector not because of the halo effect (it actually wasn't too bad on my phone) but because it kept the front sensors from working. Maybe it was just too thick, so I'm hoping I can find a thinner one out there somewhere that's decent. Folks on the Turbo forum have had some success with the 0.2mm iVOLER tempered glass, so if I can find one for the 2014 Moto X, I'm gonna try it.

The BodyGuardz actually didn't affect my front sensors. The touchless controls on the Moto X are really nice. Now if it's camera could have just been as nice as the S5's that replaced it.

good to know I liked it but like the Gelli from CaseMate better. Has a bit more lip on it.

I don't use a case though I like the phone necked.

IMO the curved glass is so great looking and the feel of the glass with no screen protector is good also. I don't have the Moto X, but if I were you I'd go no screen protector if your lifestyle permits it.

I can now tell you do not but the Case Mate Tough Naked case. I've had my Moto X for 3 weeks and it's been in the case since day 1, dirt has gotten in between the case and phone and has totally f'd up the back of my phone, the back cover has pits and scratches in in that have ruined the back cover beyond cleaning or repair. I have to call Motorola and see if I can buy a new back cover and the Case Mate case is going in the trash. I owned last year's moto x 9 months with no case and it still looks like new, this phone looks like crap after 3 weeks. Just a note: I work in an office, the phone is never carried or left in a dirty or dusty environment, just normal use, also it's a normal plastic back, not leather, I can only imagine what this case would do to a leather back. Feel like contacting Case Mate and make them pay for a new back cover. Does anyone know if the back covers on the new Moto X are user replaceable?

Hm, I have the 'clear' Tough Naked case on order....I'll keep an eye out for that dirt issue.
