Cases and IR sensors

Do cases that cover up the power button mess with the IR sensor?

So my best bet would be to go with a case that just covers the edges?

Yeah. I have the mophie juice pack and the case covers the sensor. My range is about cut in half. Then again, I don't use it often and when I do... It ain't for the use of messing with IR stuff

Do you leave the juice pack on or do you only use it when you need it?

My battery life is good enough for my uses. It lasts me all day with no problems. But if I know I'm going to be at a conference or really taxing the battery with video and GPS and so on I will keep it in that case for extended use. Yeah it's bulky but I still love it.

And the recommendation for leaving it on constantly is a no from the manufacturer. I turn it on when I get to around 14% and then let it charge up to like 90 and then turn it off. Then I charge them both together overnight or whatever.

It takes more juice to charge past 90 so I don't go past that with the pack itself.

It depends on the type of case. Cases like Incipio Feather, Nillkin and other slim ones don't have a cover on the top or bottom.

The Urban Armor Gear cases have a cutout in the power button so the IR can work. If you see a case you like, look for pictures or read their description to double check they have either a cutout on the power button or that they don't cover it at all.
