Cases?

Just wondering what cases you are considering, if any? I tried this one, but the cutout for the camera is off and I'm not crazy about the position of the power button. I'd like to find one with a cover, as I'll be using this for several choral groups I sing in. I probably won't use the case when it's docked.

I've bought a Penoval stylus that attaches magnetically to the tablet.

I mentioned in another thread that I got the Speck MagFolio case, because I frequently transfer the tablet from the dock to my bag for work, and I don't like having to pry it out of a case each time. The magnetic attachment works really well. The downside is that the edges aren't well-protected while in the case, and of course the tablet can easily fall out if the whole thing is accidentally dropped. But I wasn't looking for something that will protect it -- I wanted something that would cover the screen during transport, and that I could use as a stand while working on it with a keyboard.

The stand part isn't the best, since the little depressions on the interior flap aren't quite good enough to hold the tablet in place besides the most upright one. But for what I needed, it's still pretty good.

But it looks like it would do for me to use during a concert. Thanks!

So I have tried 3 different cases over 3 days.

This was the first one I got, and returned it almost immediately. Cutouts for the camera and buttons were a little off.

This is the 2nd one I got yesterday. It was ok, but nothing to hold a stylus.

I should say both of these have cutouts for the dock, but that's not as important for me, as I'll only be using the case when I'm out and about.

This one arrived today, and this will be my keeper. I love that it attaches to the tablet magnetically, making it easy to remove it. There's a camera shield that opens magnetically. It does hold my stylus as well. Here are a few pictures of the Speck. My thanks to B. Diddy for suggesting this one. It's going to work great for me.

Guess it depends what you're going for (very helpful insight BTW about those three, thanks).

Personally I'd go for the second. It's actually a case and will offer protection. (edit: and only $9? A steal).

The third option is fine if you want more of a stand and drop protection isn't a concern. The only thing that bugs me (and this is more OCD than an issue), they were too lazy to make precise cutouts and said "hey, we'll just put a giant flap there instead".

Anyone found a good keyboard case with TouchPad? I would like to be able to use my tablet as a substitute for my laptop while on the road.

There are times I need to pull into a rest area or parking lot and provide support. Using the tablet is a lot easier for this than getting out my laptop and booting up.

I found this one on Amazon that seems perfect for my needs but the delivery time is about 6 weeks. Looks like it is coming from Taiwan.

Funny, I'm just testing this exact case out as part of the Amazon Vine review program (they sent it to me for free to review), and although it looks great on paper, and the build quality is really good, I'm finding the keyboard to be unusable, because the spacebar often doesn't get recognized. I'm planning to contact the seller to see if they can send me a replacement, and hopefully this is just an isolated defect on this unit.

In addition, the way the cutout for the power button is designed, it makes it more difficult for it to sense my fingerprint correctly.

I hope the space bar issue is a fluke, I went ahead and ordered it earlier today. It fits all my needs and I would hate to have to send it back.

I really need pointer control that the touch pad would provide, it would be very inconvenient to have to connect a mouse.

Amazon reviews (although only a few) are mostly positive and no mention of instability. I'm going to dig around on the internet for any other reviews. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on hopefully a fully functional unit.

The touchpad works quite well, but it's also fairly easy to accidentally touch it while typing. Fortunately, there's a nice feature that allows the user to toggle it off by simply pressing Fn + Spacebar.

I requested the return and replacement, so hopefully I'll be able to update this in about a week ...

Even though Amazon shows about 6 weeks for delivery, my keyboard case was delivered today. It is definitely good build quality and was easy to connect.

I have not had any connectivity issues so far, I'll report back if any issues develop.

I did however have to contact Amazon and request a replacement. The one I received has two "R" keys and no "E" key. It does type an "E" as it should, the physical key is just incorrect.

I called Amazon customer service, the lady I spoke with was very helpful. I simply ask for a replacement and to keep the current one until the new one arrives. They were happy to accommodate my request and a new one is on the way.

Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard of that kind of assembly defect! But typing is smooth? You haven't noticed any skipped letters or spaces? If you aren't seeing any of that, then at least I have hope that my replacement will work correctly. I'm still waiting for it -- it's not scheduled to arrive until mid-late September, which is kind of ridiculous (I initiated the return on 8/4, so it'll take more than a month to fulfill).

Nothing so far, it is smooth and the typing has been flawless to this point. I will have the chance to use it a good bit more tomorrow and will report back with any issues.

My replacement is scheduled for delivery around the end of September, seems odd. This one was scheduled for around the same time but arrived today. The long delivery time is the reason I called Amazon customer service, I didn't want to just send this one back and reorder. I can live with the two "R" keys for now. I just know over time it would drive me crazy.
